Following the success of the number one bestseller 42: The Wildly Improbable Ideas of Douglas Adams, this companion volume unveils Adams’ complete, never-before-published scripts of the Hitchhikers TV series, meticulously annotated with exclusive production notes, on-set photographs, anecdotes and ephemera.
Kevin Jon Davies, who made the highly successfull and number one bestseller “42: The Wildly Improbable Ideas of Douglas Adams” comes back with a new book project entitled “I Never Could Get the Hang of Thursdays” : “This companion volume unveils Adams’ complete, never-before-published scripts of the Hitchhikers TV series, meticulously annotated with exclusive production notes, on-set photographs, anecdotes and ephemera”.
As i write this lines, there are11 days left in the kickstarter campaign and it attracted already almost 300 backers. But even when the kickstarter campaign is finished when you read these lines, you will be able to pledge for the book on the publisher’s campaign like 1397 other supporters! The campaign is already a great success and the book which will be richly illustrated and annotated by Kevin Jon Davies, is expected to be released in the last quarter of 2025.
Regarding Kevin Jon Davies, you probably know him already if you’re a Douglas Adams fan but let me quote the publisher : “After the Hitchhiker’s Guide radio series aired in 1978, young art student Kevin Jon Davies sought out its little-known author Douglas Adams to record an early fanzine interview. He went on to direct The Making of Hitchhiker, the 1993 documentary for BBC Video, and Adams invited him to art-direct The Illustrated Hitchhiker, a large-format book with pioneering digital composites. Since then he has contributed to a number of Adams-related projects, including The Hexagonal Phase (2018), the final radio series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
UPDATE: In March 2025, we learned that the publisher Unbound went into administration (see The Guardian’s article). Some of the founders and management team at Unbound then created another publisher, Boundless, which was due to publish some of the books that had already been successfully financed (including Kevin Jon Davies’ new book). Sadly, in August 2025, it was announced that Boundless had gone into liquidation (see Publisher’s Weekly article). Those who pledged never got their money back, and the book remains unpublished. As of November 2025, Kevin Jon Davies is still looking for a new publisher.

Unbound and then Boundless have folded owing authors, backers and creditors lots of money.
They didn’t even have the common decency to let backers know that they’d folded. I found out from a small news article that indicated Boundless (who had been formed to fix the issues with Unbound) was in financial trouble.
It appears that there was some “odd” financial stuff going on behind closed doors…
Damn shame as I was really looking forward to this book from Kevin Jon Davies as a companion to the very good 42 he published a couple of years ago.
Might I suggest that this page be taken down as it advertises a company that no longer exists and has cost a lot of people a lot of money.
I hope that the authors who’ve had effectively had their income and livelihood stolen, can get money owed and will find a new home for their books.
