According to H2G2 radio series director Dirk Maggs, Stephen Moore died peacefully at home a few days ago. He was 81 years old.

Moore was one of my heroes and the REAL Marvin (radio and TV series but he also recorded two singles !!).

On 12th October, Dirk Maggs wrote on facebook: “I’m very sad to pass on the news that our dear friend Stephen Moore died peacefully last weekend after suffering in recent years from Alzheimer’s disease. Stephen was a fine actor, a lovely man and the original and most iconic voice of Marvin The Paranoid Android in The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. He was a gentle, wickedly funny man, a pleasure to work with and a dear friend. Our thoughts are with his family and our memories of him will always make us smile. RIP dear Stephen.”

A day later, the news was announced officially on the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50035065

I interviewed him in 2003. You can read his interview here
